Overview



As a Product Analyst, this role plays a vital role in creating and managing our insurance products. Product Analyst will proactively build business cases, execute action plans and continue monitoring the impact on the P&L. Combining leadership and analytical skills, the Product Analyst will lead the analytical efforts for growth and profitability of states within Acceptance’s product lines. The Product analyst will make sense of data from various sources, work closely with other groups and draw conclusions about how we can improve our product offering. Problem-solving experience and good business sense is required while developing project plans and presenting ideas to co-workers and senior managers.

Company Overview:

We are principally a retailer, servicer and underwriter of non-standard personal automobile insurance based in Nashville, Tennessee. Our insurance operations actively generate revenues from selling non-standard personal automobile insurance policies and related products in 16 states. We currently conduct our servicing and underwriting operations in 13 states and are licensed as an insurer in 13 additional states.

 

At March 31, 2017, we leased and operated 355 retail locations and a call center staffed with employee-agents. Our employee agents primarily sell non-standard personal automobile insurance products underwritten by us, as well as certain commissionable ancillary products. In most states, our employee-agents also sell a complementary insurance product providing personal property and liability coverage for renters underwritten by us. In addition, retail locations in some markets offer non-standard personal automobile insurance serviced and underwritten by other third-party insurance carriers for which we receive a commission. In addition to our retail locations, we are able to complete the entire sales process over the phone via our call center or through the internet via our consumer-based website or mobile platform. On a limited basis, we also sell our products through selected retail locations operated by independent agents.

Responsibilities



  • Manage software tools for product organization
  • Analyze competition and identify market opportunities, make proposals, and implement changes to drive business results
  • Has understanding of the technical aspects of insurance systems and interfaces
  • Comprehensive understanding of the various rating engines and channels
  • Conducts investigations and research on errors and discrepancies with a focus on problem resolution across multi-functional teams
  • Ability to identify and analyze data discrepancies and implement recommendations to improve business processes and workflows
  • Analyzes trends and propose actions to respond to them and contribute to the company’s bottom line
  • Supports pricing and filling work for the product management team
  • Responsible for developing and monitoring key business metrics and recommending and implementing responses to a changing business environment

Job Requirements

  • Must be flexible and effective at multi-tasking.
  • Establishes a positive relationship with IT staff and business partners; collaboration is key.
  • Must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective in a variety of formal/informal presentation settings: one-on-one, small and large groups.
  • Must be pro-active with issue identification and resolution.
  • Must be experienced with the entire produce enhancement life cycle.
  • Proven practical experience with analysis.
  • Strong ability to perform analysis of small to medium complex business, workflow, and technology issues to support decision-making.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing cross functional relationships
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship and management skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and thorough with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Excel or Spreadsheet experience required.
  • SQL and/or other relational database experience a plus.

Years of Experience Requirements:

  • 1-2 years business experience a plus.
Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or related emphasis or equivalent;
  • Or a degree in Marketing with exposure to data analysis tools and techniques.
