Overview Acceptance Insurance is growing and we are adding an Employee Relations Manager to our Human Resources team for our Corporate Office located in Nashville, TN (Green Hills area).


Position Overview:

To partner with people leaders to ensure prompt, corporation-wide consistency in decision making on employee relations issues. Initiate investigations regarding allegations and concerns brought forward by Team Members.

Company Overview:

We are principally a retailer, servicer and underwriter of non-standard personal automobile insurance based in Nashville, Tennessee. Our insurance operations actively generate revenues from selling non-standard personal automobile insurance policies and related products in 15 states. We currently conduct our servicing and underwriting operations in 15 states.


Acceptance Insurance leased and operated 349 retail locations and a call center staffed with employee-agents. Our employee agents primarily sell non-standard personal automobile insurance products underwritten by us, as well as certain commissionable ancillary products. In most states, our employee-agents also sell a complementary insurance product providing personal property and liability coverage for renters underwritten by us. In addition, retail locations in some markets offer non-standard personal automobile insurance serviced and underwritten by other third-party insurance carriers for which we receive a commission. In addition to our retail locations, we are able to complete the entire sales process over the phone via our call center or through the internet via our consumer-based website or mobile platform. On a limited basis, we also sell our products through selected retail locations operated by independent agents.

  • Provide policy guidance to people leaders regarding employment laws/regulations, terminations and progressive counseling
  • Ensure people leaders provide proper documentation of employee relations cases
  • Guide or conduct thorough non-biased investigations
  • Administers unemployment insurance processes, reviews liability reports, monitors program costs
  • Acts as liaison between people leaders and team members to resolve disputes
  • Develops streamlines and enhances tracking reports and HR analytics as well as processes all government reporting (EEO-1, OSHA 300, etc.)
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • A keen awareness of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation, Title VII and other employment related laws and regulations
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with persons of all levels from basic literacy to executive level
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, including the ability to listen, respond and electronically document cases.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
  • SHRM or HRCI Certified Professional (PHR or SPHR) preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience at a management or senior management level with emphasis on employee relations
  • Prior employee relations experience supporting multiple lines of business (e.g. Retail, Operations, Corporate)
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements
