We are growing at Acceptance Insurance...and we are looking for an experienced Director of Property Damage Claims to join our Claims Team at our Nashville, TN Regional Claims Office.

Position Summary:

The Director of Property Damage Claims position is responsible for oversight and direction of Claims staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.  This team member will provide leadership and oversight to Claim Supervisors, Team Leaders, and multiple teams of Claim adjusters and/or support staff handling automobile claims.  This Director will provide direction on claims with regard to the investigation, evaluation of coverage, liability and property damage evaluation and settlement authority.  The Director is also responsible of ensuring timely recognition and development of injury claims.  This role will manage quality assurance of physical damage claims and serve as a technical resource to subordinates and others in the organization. In addition, the position is responsible for achieving department productivity, quality handling and budget goals.  In addition, this position is responsible for the administrative duties of monitoring attendance, personnel issues, performance evaluation, and disciplinary action.

Company Overview:

We are principally a retailer, servicer and underwriter of non-standard personal automobile insurance based in Nashville, Tennessee. Our insurance operations actively generate revenues from selling non-standard personal automobile insurance policies and related products in 15 states. We currently conduct our servicing and underwriting operations in 13 states and are licensed as an insurer in 13 additional states.

 

Acceptance Insurance leased and operated 349 retail locations and a call center staffed with employee-agents. Our employee agents primarily sell non-standard personal automobile insurance products underwritten by us, as well as certain commissionable ancillary products. In most states, our employee-agents also sell a complementary insurance product providing personal property and liability coverage for renters underwritten by us. In addition, retail locations in some markets offer non-standard personal automobile insurance serviced and underwritten by other third-party insurance carriers for which we receive a commission. Responsibilities



The Director of Claims will:     

  • Provide guidance and direction with regard to coverage analysis, liability investigation and determination, property damage evaluations, negotiation and settlement of a book of automobile claims.
  • Through leadership behaviors, create and maintain an energetic, positive, and collaborative culture.
  • Effectively handle and resolve consumer complaints and be able to appropriately address adjusters who are the source of the complaint.
  • Develop, analyze, and prepare reports to submit to management on operational performance of areas of responsibility.
  • Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct interviews, hire new staff, and provide employee orientation.
  • Coach and provide career development advice to team members.
  • Track employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling to include:  employee vacations, employee breaks, and back-up for absent employees.
  • Schedule and conduct staff meetings.
  • Responsible to meet department productivity and quality goals.
  • Communicate with other Supervisors and Managers.
  • Work with other departments to establish and maintain collaborative relationships toward achieving department and company goals.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements

The most qualified candidate for Director of Claims will have:

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Advanced writing and analytical skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of claims processes, procedures, and technology. 
  • Experience in supervising project and team activities. 
  • Ability to read and interpret financial and productivity reports.
  • Proven record of effective leadership mentoring and training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Years of Experience Requirements

  • 7-10 years of leadership experience within the insurance industry preferred.
Education Requirements

  • College degree preferred, with MBA, CPCU, or relevant work experience and/or industry training preferred.
