Overview:

The Network Engineer is an integral member of the Network team responsible for data communication networks – Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs) including both wired and wireless. This team manages changes in the network, including equipment installation, software upgrades and patching in a manner to minimize disruption of business operations. responsible for the operational support of the company’s network and telecommunications infrastructure. In managing day to day operations, they will oversee monitoring, changes in configuration and issue resolution. To ensure that the network and communications infrastructure has the capacity, speed and security required for the present as well as strategic needs of the business, they will be heavily involved in procurement, and retirement of network devices and software.

This is not a remote position, this role will be working from our headquarter office in Nashville, TN (Green Hills area).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Advise in procurement of network equipment and software, including receiving, physical installation and configuration, and disposing of equipment no longer needed according to policy.

  • Aid/advise in new project design and equipment procurement for budgeting and design

  • Ensure that proper network and communication hardware, licensing, and software inventories are up to date.

  • Enforce change control procedures.

  • Confirm compatibility and manage impact to business of all new equipment and changes.

  • Respond to all network outages or performance issues and direct his team to execute necessary repair or configuration changes.

  • Ensure the installation of firmware patches and updates to all network devices and software are performed in a timely manner.

  • Monitor network security and report to management anomalies.

  • Oversee access rights and permissions policies as required by the business.

  • Manage, Recommend and Oversee Corporate cyber-Security profile from edge to endpoints relating to Network transport, i.e. Trojan, Ransomware.  

Desired Qualifications:

  • A high level of attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to project requirements and plan complex network designs

  • Certifications/Merit badges in the following fields (not mandatory, but a plus)

    • Network engineering (CCNA/CCNP Enterprise)

    • Cloud networking (AWS/Azure/GCP)

    • Information Security (Palo Alto/ Zscaler/ Cisco)

  • Strong technical acumen in:

    • Basic networking, subnetting, and supernetting, IPv6

    • Routing – routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP), complex Cisco router configurations, Netflow

    • Switching – Multi-gigabit ethernet, Layer 2/Layer 3 switching, trunk/access port configurations, Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Spanning-Tree Protocol, Etherchannel

    • Firewalls – Sonicwall, Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower, firewall management via CLI, ASDM, or GUI

    • Wireless – wireless fundamentals, wireless security, using Meraki platform

    • Security services such as access-control lists, port-security, DHCP snooping/ARP inspection, etc.

    • Using Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor, Network Configuration Monitor, and Network Traffic Analyzer

    • Quality of Service configuration desired
